Nicole Nau was born on January 30, 1963 in Düsseldorf am Rhein, where she studied graphic design and worked for various advertising agencies before training as a dancer in Argentina. This was followed by engagements as a dancer in the opera Maraton at the Teatro Colón opera house in Buenos Aires and in the opera Orestes Last Tango, which she co-produced with the World Music Theatre Festival in the Netherlands.

Nicole Nau has been dancing with her husband Luis Pereyra since 2002. The couple became known through their own productions such as VIDA!, which was celebrated with a standing ovation at the Folies Bergére in Paris. This was followed by presentations in the DACH region: Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Philharmonie München, Admiralspalast Berlin as well as on stages in Vienna and in Zurich, Basel, Bern and Lucerne. This was followed by worldwide tours with shows in South America, Europe, Canada, Russia and Japan, among others. In addition to dancing and directing, Nicole Nau is also responsible for the lighting and costume design of the shows. The Argentinian post office dedicated two stamps to her to honor her as a representative of Argentinian tango. Nicole Nau has been producing her own dance shows with her German company Tangofolklore since 2016.
